Brian's World of Airlines

I have been fascinated with the airline industry since I was twelve years old.  When I was a kid, a friend and I were designing the ideal town, and I started with the airport.  As I started to design the airport, I became interested in airlines, and the fascination blossomed from there.

My fascination manifest itself initially through the collection of airline timetables.  I used to write letters to the airlines' offices requesting timetables.  I also enjoyed going to the airport to watch the plans takeoff and land.  My first exposure was the Houston Intercontinental Airport (it had not been renamed at this point); the north-south runway ran parallel to a section of Greens Road.  You could stop the car and watch the plans depart and land.  Granted, IAH is not a busy airport, but it was a thrill nonetheless.

The whole reason I joined the Science Club during my junior year in high school was to participate in the group's field trip to the FAA and ramp control towers at IAH.  Then the family moved to Chicago that following summer - a city with a huge airport and a great deal of international traffic.  My high school prom date and I went to the airport to plan the pre-prom party that I hosted.

As I was searching for a new career in the late 1990s, I turned to the airline industry and transformed my hobby into a career.  Once I joined American Airlines, I realized that there were many geeks like me; and most of them started the same way that I did - collecting airline timetables.

I don't fly as much as I did when I was a consultant.  Who knows, I may return to that lifestyle someday.  But I had provided information for the airlines on which I have flown recently.  In addition, I have provided some of my favorite links.  If you know of an airline link that is not featured on this page, please email it to me and I will include it.
