Brian and I decided to spend the summer vacation in beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado, where my parents had just finished their vacation home. In addition to spending time in Summit County, where Breckenridge is located, we intended to visit some of the neighboring areas, including Leadville and Aspen. This trip covered seven calendar days, in which we did some biking, fishing, hiking and sightseeing. The links below will direct you to the synopsis of the appropriate activities.
Day 1 - Tuesday 29 July 2003 - Denver and Breckenridge
Our flight landed early at Denver International Airport, and we proceeded to the main terminal, where my parents anxiously awaited our arrival. After introductions were made, we headed to the car and began our journey to Breckenridge. We stopped for some shopping at the Colorado Mills outlet mall in Golden and had lunch at the local Macaroni Grill. Good stuff. Once we arrived at my parents' abode, Mom, Brian and I decided to head into Breckenridge to stroll around downtown. The weather was beautiful, puffy clouds and a temperature around 75°F. The clouds did produce some rain, but it dampen our walk around the town.
After the walk around Breckenridge, we headed back to the ol' homestead for "cocktail time" and dinner. Dinner consisted of steaks, baked potatoes and salad - a good Midwestern dinner.
